Helicopter equipped with dual detection system successfully lifts off

A helicopter will be equipped with a dual-item detection instrument system of gravity and magnetism to measure crustal signals and to detect geological structures in Haiduan Township (海端鄉) and Chihshang Township (池上鄉), Taitung County starting from July 20th for about a week.

This is the first airborne surveying technology in Taiwan that combines gravimeter and tri-axial towed bird within magnetometer. Flying along the terrain with a helicopter vehicle can overcome the terrain obstacles and improve the uniformity and coverage of data efficiently. The gravimeter is installed in the cabin, and the tri-axial towed bird device with orange paint and looking like a missile is hung about 30 meters below the helicopter, and it flies in the air with the helicopter for detection.

The survey results will be published on the Geothermal Exploration Information System established by the Central Geological Survey, M.O.E.A. after data inspection and analysis for reference by all sectors.
